Client Care Representative
All receptionists must be efficient and able to multi-task as they are the liaison between client and veterinarian, they must also become proficient in our hospital's protocols. Receptionists are also responsible for administrative duties -- this includes basic typing and computer skills, ability to manage a multi-line phone system, and being thorough. In addition to office maintenance, scheduling appointments, and answering phone calls, the client care coordinators are expected to make client satisfaction their top priority.
Veterinary assistants support the veterinarians and technicians by cleaning and maintaining equipment, restraining and handling patients, and are responsible for some clerical and administrative work. This position has the potential for career advancement. All assistants that show initiative are welcomed to train on more technical skills.
Veterinary technicians are responsible for outpatient appointments including the review of vaccination records and preparing vaccines according to protocol, gathering signalment, vital signs, and history for each patient. Technicians should be proficient in venipuncture and IV catheter placement. Technicians are expected to maintain various equipment including laboratory equipment, autoclave, and the cold therapy laser; radiology and pharmacy duties, including keeping up with the controlled drug log. Preparing samples for outside laboratory analysis and performing routine laboratory procedures and analyses. Admitting surgical patients, thoroughly explaining treatment plans with owners, and assisting in surgical procedures using proper aseptic technique, maintain complete anesthetic records, perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiography. Inpatient care, including administering treatments and recording the patients' status throughout the day. Maintain health certificates and rabies certificates, organize records and consent forms, schedule appointments, and client communication. CVT preferred.
